Summit County Paintball FAQs

Pretty much everything you need to make sure you have a great day on our paintball course is in the FAQs below. If you have a question we don't answer in the FAQs, don't hesitate to call us or send us a note from the contact page.

When is Black Bear Open?

Black Bear Paintball is open Fridays through Sundays starting Memorial Day Weekend and continuing through the end of September. You can book Black Bear anytime for birthdays, weddings, corporate team building events, and other private parties.

Can I Bring My Own Marker?

Generally you are allowed to bring your own markers. Sometime we will schedule events that require players to use our gear. If you bring your own marker, we will conduct a safety inspection to qualify it for use on the field. Your marker must be calibrated at 280fps or less, seals and o-rings must be free from cracks and no show signs of age, and your CO2 tank must be free from defects. Check the expiration date as we will not allow expired tanks to be used on our field.

Can I Bring My Own Paintballs?

Black Bear Paintball does not allow players to bring their own paintballs to the field. The paintball ammunition we provide has been carefully selected. Our paintballs are environmentally safe, non-toxic and biodegradable. They are constructed such that they break on impact, ensuring a safer game. Our quality paintballs minimize clogged barrels by not exploding in your marker. Paintballs are included in your rental and you may purchase more at the field.

Can I Extend My Play Time?

I'm glad you asked! If you get to the end if your two-hour session and decide you are having WAY too much fun, you can extend your play through the next two-hour session for only $50. This includes an additional hopper of ammo. Extended play is only available at the field and only if there is an opening in the next session. Extended play cannot be added to the 3:00pm session. We close at 5:30 and you'd be all alone!

What If I Run Out of Ammo?

600 rounds of ammo is usually plenty for two hours of play. But if you are trigger-happy, you can burn through that before the end of your session, then you'd have to sit around and watch everyone else have fun. Not too worry! You can purchase ammo by the pod or by the case. So fire away! We got ya covered.

What if it Rains?

Unless the weather poses a safety risk (i.e, lightning, severe winds) we play rain or shine. The Colorado high country experiences monsoonal rains from mid-July through mid-August in the afternoons. We expect a short cloud burst from time to time, but we don't stop playing paintball!

Can I Get A Refund?

Black Bear Paintball only issues refunds under the most extreme of circumstances and at its discretion. The refund policy is clearly defined when you book your reservation. Under some circumstances, if something comes up and you can't make your reservation, we will issue you a rain check good for the rest of the season. If a player is injured at the beginning of play and cannot continue, we issue a rain check that can be redeemed anytime during the season. Rain checks are transferrable so if you can't redeem yours, you can sell it to someone who can.

I Really Like My Marker - Can I Buy It?

Everything's for sale. Talk to your referee about buying your marker, mask, neck guard or pet rock! We'll make you a great deal. Also, our on-site pro shop offers ball caps, tee-shirts, and other cool gear.

How Old Does a Play Have to Be?

Black Bear Paintball requires players to be at least 10 years old. Youth under 15 must be accompanied by a playing parent or guardian or older sibling. Parents and youth must sign waivers indicating they understand the risks inherent with paintball. Here's a handy dandy article to help you decide if your child is ready to play paintball.
